A Veteran is any individual who is currently serving or who has honourably served in the Canadian Armed Forces, the Commonwealth or its wartime allies, or as a Regular Member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP), or as a Peace Officer in a Special Duty Area or on a Special Duty Operation, or who has served in the Merchant Navy or Ferry Command during wartime.
What makes us (Veterans) different than other vocations is that many of us don’t do our job because it’s a job – we do it because we really care about others and love what we do.
Except- the resources required to help our peers when they need it can often be hard to find.
Our goal is to change that.
That is what the RIVER VALLEY RESILIENCE RETREAT is all about.
We aim to increase awareness to all our peers out there who may need a hand. We want our peers and their families to know that help is available to them, and that it is okay to ask for it.
We provide peer-support and resiliency training to Veterans and their families all over Western Canada. With access to professional and peer support, we are able to provide participants the opportunity to learn and utilize tools needed to overcome the stresses that bring them to us. Through this support, our Veterans and their families can once again feel rested and give back to the communities they serve.
